Teaching in our school
Educational planning follows the objectives set out in the 2012 "National Guidelines for the Curriculum of Preschool and First Cycle Education" and adheres to the following methodological guidelines: ☺ Pay attention to children's acclimatization and inclusion during the initial phase of entry into the initial classes; ☺ Promote personalized activities to meet the needs of each individual child; ☺ Promote group learning experiences to overcome emotional, social, and moral egocentrism and develop the ability to collaborate and work together; ☺ Pay constant attention to the child's growth so that it evolves harmoniously. ☺ respect the child as an active participant and protagonist of their own growth. Instructional planning is the operational tool for organizing the various learning situations and achieving the objectives contained in the educational project. It offers children various opportunities to gain experience both in small and large groups, both of the same age and of mixed age, meeting different adults – key teachers and sometimes classmates from other sections. In fact, the school also operates in open sections, so children can meet and participate in activities with other teachers.

The spaces of our facility
The building is divided into three floors: ❀ ground floor -1 large classroom dedicated to the section. Pre-After School
The classroom is used every day from 7:30 am to 9:00 am for the before-school service and from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm for the after-school service. The before/after-school service is a service that can be used daily or in response to occasional needs.

Meals are prepared daily in our kitchen by two cooks, taking into account the national guidelines for school catering provided by ATS Milano Città Metropolitana (Department of Prevention - Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service).

The Gardens
The school grounds feature large green spaces, walkways, and areas with shock-absorbent flooring featuring children's play equipment: slides, climbing frames, ladders, and balance beams.

They are adjacent to the classrooms, equipped with child-friendly facilities, including soap and towel dispensers (both provided by the school). The school has bathrooms for teaching, auxiliary, and kitchen staff, and for people with disabilities.

General information
The "Meraviglia - Villoresi" Nursery School is made up of: -5 nursery sections: Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Blue. They are heterogeneous and mixed sections (they welcome children from 3 to 6 years old) and are normally composed of 25 children entrusted to a main teacher. -1 Spring section or Blue section (welcomes children from 24 to 36 months). Composed of a maximum of 20 children entrusted to 3 teachers (1 full-time and 2 part-time).The school building meets the safety standards required by law (Legislative Decree 81/2008). Furthermore, the school employs an external safety consultant (RSPP) and a Competent Doctor appointed by the Legal Representative, while there is an internal worker safety representative (RSL).
The ORANGE Section

The Hall
The preschool has two rooms with games, structured corners, and ample space for free play. Children use the playroom in the morning after the day's scheduled activities, after lunch, and whenever they feel it's appropriate.
First floor

The Sections: BLUE, ORANGE, RED and BLUE
The Orange, Red, and Blue sections. These are heterogeneous and mixed sections (they welcome children aged 3 to 6) and are generally composed of 25 children entrusted to a primary teacher. The Spring section or Blue section (welcomes children aged 24 to 36 months). It consists of a maximum of 20 children entrusted to 3 teachers (1 full-time and 2 part-time).
The Management
The Management Office is the place where all administrative procedures are handled and where parents/family members of children can turn to in case of need.
The Gym
It is a large room where psychomotor activities are carried out, promoting the harmonious development of the child, both physically and mentally, as well as in the more strictly personal dimension of self-control. The objectives of psychomotor activity are: - developing autonomy: becoming capable of doing something alone; knowing how to respect the rules; - fostering security: not being afraid to let go, knowing how to trust; - stimulating pleasure: knowing how to have fun, feeling good in one's body, experiencing satisfaction and pleasant sensations; - knowing how to do things linked to pleasure: being aware of what one is capable of and cognitive self-esteem; - fostering bonds between classmates: developing relationships of comparison, help, and collaboration. Psychomotor activity is offered once a week with the section teacher. The teacher's role is predominantly non-directive and takes the lead in managing the situation: this means being present without taking over, but rather helping the child learn to do things independently. The space is equipped with backrests and tables of varying heights that allow children to experiment with jumping, all in a safe environment thanks to numerous mats. There are also many foam elements, cones, hoops, boxes, and much more, which are used by children for symbolic play.

Music Laboratory
The external music teacher offers a music workshop once a week to the class and their teacher. The activity uses a keyboard, children's instruments, a television, and a tablet for interactive games. In the music workshop, students can: encourage proper and fun musical learning; learn and mime numerous songs; move to the rhythm of music; recognize sounds, pauses, and rhythms; listen to live music; and learn about the diversity and characteristics of musical instruments.
Historical Notes
The "Meraviglia-Villoresi" nursery school was inaugurated on August 3, 1924, by engineer Giuseppe Villoresi and sisters Amalia and Agnese Meraviglia, who donated the land to the parish. On October 27, 1963, the old building was demolished and a new school was built by the Parish of San Bernardo di Barbaiana, named Meraviglia-Villoresi in recognition of the generosity of the two families. In September 2010, the school was expanded, and in July 2011, the existing building was completely renovated.

GRAPHOMOTOR Laboratory
This workshop focuses on pre-writing, that is, perfecting all the skills necessary for learning to write in elementary school. Specifically, it develops hand-eye coordination, graphomotor skills, and spatial orientation. Writing involves the whole person, so it's important to begin with motor experience (proposed in the classroom) so that, through physical experimentation, the child develops proper use of fine motor skills. The proposed experience begins with the child, their pleasure in moving, manipulating, and experimenting, and consequently permeates every aspect of their school experience. The graphomotor workshop includes a specific time for implementation and experimentation, especially for children in their final year.

The IWB
The school is equipped with an IWB (interactive whiteboard): it is a useful tool for carrying out educational activities related to technological innovation. With the IWB it is possible to draw and write, view files, songs, videos, books and much more. It is used during educational evenings dedicated to families.

Our IDENTITY
Run by the parish of San Bernardo, with lay staff, it is an independent, non-state, Christian-inspired preschool that places the family as the primary educational context for children aged two to six. Our preschool has a Catholic orientation. Teaching Catholic Religion (IRC) is an opportunity for the full development of children's personalities because it opens them to the religious dimension and promotes reflection and experience. IRC is an integral part of our educational project and must be accepted by those who choose to enroll their children in our preschool. It is intended as a cultural experience accessible to all children. It is held weekly, offered in workshop activities led by qualified IRC teachers, as per a decree issued by the Bishop of Milan.

The dining room
The canteen service is provided directly by the nursery school, whose staff has specific expertise and is an integral part of the school. The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen; children eat their meals as soon as they are ready for distribution.

Spring Section (2-3 years)
The age of 24 – 36 months is a fundamental stage in a child’s development. The sensorial and psychological stimuli received during this period leave profound traces in an individual's future personality and contribute to giving meaning and significance to their life. Taking this premise into account, the Primavera section sets itself the following objectives: 1) achieving well-being: the ability to offer children an environment that fosters their complete and harmonious growth in a serene and respectful manner of the different stages of development; 2) developing autonomy: facilitating the difficult achievement of "knowing how to do things on their own" through proposals aimed at developing ever-increasing skills; 3) opportunities for socialisation: through the extra-familial experience of meeting and playing with peers, children are guided towards openness towards others and the consequent overcoming of natural egocentrism. In order to achieve these objectives, the day of the children in the Primavera section is divided into times dedicated to routines, moments of free play and structured educational activities. Equipped with direct access to the garden to allow for projects of outdoor education.

The Nanna Classroom
In a large room equipped with specific nap beds, children who need to rest in the afternoon can use this space designed specifically for this activity.
CREATIVE-EXPERIMENTAL Laboratory
It's a space where you can gain specific experiences, develop projects aimed at achieving specific objectives, and delve deeper into activities related to doing and knowing.
The library
The school library is open to the class; children are free to choose, look at, and "read" books or listen to a story. It's a place where language is enriched and listening skills are learned. Through books and images, children unleash their creativity and imagination, experimenting with new worlds and new expressive languages. Collaborative activities with local municipal libraries are also planned.
Laboratory
An additional multipurpose space available.Currently used for introductory English language activities. The ENGLISH workshop aims to help children discover a foreign language and culture through a teaching approach that begins with direct, engaging, and fun experiences. The workshop takes place once a week and is led by a teacher with a degree in languages. Participation is optional and requires a fee.
